🌿 What Is Ayurvedic Belly Binding?
Ayurvedic belly binding—often called Bengkung—is a traditional postpartum practice designed to support your body’s healing journey after birth. Using a long, soft cotton wrap, the abdomen, hips, and lower ribs are gently bound to provide warmth, stability, and alignment during the “Sacred Window” (the first 6–8 weeks after birth, but well into 5 months postpartum).
This ritual honors your body’s natural recovery process—helping the womb return to its pre-pregnancy position, supporting posture, and promoting emotional grounding. This is not a waist trainer.

🕰️ When to Begin

Preparation: The abdomen is gently warmed with oil or an herbal rub to stimulate circulation.Â

Wrapping: A cotton bind is wrapped snugly (but never tightly) from the hips to below the ribs.

Duration: Worn for 8–12 hours daily for 5–14 days (or longer if comfortable). You can wear it to sleep to provide support if you need to wake up to tend to baby at night, or during the day to support light activities.

Maintenance: Hand-wash the wrap in gentle soap and air dry between uses.
